We roasted two turkey breasts (basically, turkeys without the wings and the legs, but with all the bones still in), made rolls, pomegranate salad, delicious mashed potatoes, Jell-O, veggies, and gravy. This was only my second time cooking a turkey, and my first time without my mother there to help, but it was surprisingly easy. In fact, the entire dinner preparation was totally laid-back and relaxing. That, in and of itself, was a Christmas miracle. Keryn-as-hostess doesn't usually do laid-back and/or relaxing.
Now, I don't have fancy dishes, cloth napkins with pretty rings, or gorgeous serving ware. (I do have six pretty water goblets, though, courtesy of Grandma Ross on my last birthday!) But even with those limitations, the adult table looked nice and festive when we got everything set.
The kids' table was far less exciting, but the kids didn't seem to mind. The layered Jell-O (a Christmas tradition in the Tobler family) provided all the thrills the younger set seemed to need:
We didn't get much in the way of pictures, because we were too busy enjoying the food. It was a fun and yummy Christmas dinner.
