Do you despair over decorating gingerbread houses with your children? Is the stress over the crumbles and the mishaps and the runny icing (that doesn't even taste nice!) dampening your Christmas spirit? Does even the lesser version of this time-honored tradition (graham cracker houses) fill you with dread?
Then Keryn's patented, one-of-a-kind, as-seen-on-TV "Christmas Tree Candy Solution" is right for you!
Follow these handy instructions for a relaxed mother, happy, sugar-stuffed children, and little-to-no mess to clean up!
Edible Christmas Trees
Things to buy at the store:
- sugar cones (not waffle cones, nor those styrofoamy light yellow cones, but sugar cones)
- cream cheese frosting (the Best Frosting in America, according to Zee) (I agree)
- green food coloring
- lots of cheap Christmas candy (for the kids)
- one carefully hidden bag of your favorite, not-cheap candy (for you)
- little paper plates
- Tint the frosting green. (For an even easier craft, don't tint the frosting. Tell your children it snowed in the Christmas tree forest.)
- Smear frosting thickly on the sugar cone.
- Smear frosting on the opening of the cone.
- Plop the cone on the paper plate, squishing down on the frosting.
- Lick your fingers.
- Hand to adorable child to decorate with the tons of candy spilled out on extra paper plates.
- Don't stress about how much candy doesn't make it on to the "trees". (Decorating the trees is just a cover for getting as much candy in your mouth as possible.)
- Doing this before lunch is not advisable. (Trust me on this one.)
