Today was a good day. It was, of course, a day when I didn't go anywhere (because I have no car), but it turned into a great day.
(My knee doesn't really hurt anymore! The pain is much more on the "banged my knee on the doorframe" level then the "car accident ruined my leg FOREVER" level. Hooray! However, I am SO incredibly stiff and sore. It hurts to sneeze, because apparently the muscles you use when you sneeze are the same muscles you tense when you rear-end someone. Who knew? The kids are great--Zee's bump is barely there, and he feels "fantastic!" No one else is reporting soreness or pain.)
Today we watched some of our Christmas movies: Beauty and the Beast, Toy Story 3, and the music video DVD that came with Zee's They Might Be Giants "Here Comes Science" CD. (Off-topic: Awesomest CD/DVD ever! If you have kids interested in science, GET THIS CD. It rocks. Em has been singing about Roy G. Biv all evening, and the DVD music videos kept all three of the older kids enthralled through two viewings.)
We also got out the coloring books Grandma Tobler gave for Christmas, and spent an hour just coloring. We built massive creations with the Legos and MegaBlocks, we read books, and we ate lots of Christmas junk food.
It was very soothing.
Also comforting is the outpouring of love and support from our friends and family. At last count we have been offered four loaner cars, six errand-helpers, three babysittings, two dinners, and many "whatever-you-need-just-call"s. Thank you, everyone. It's humbling and amazing to live in such a generous and loving community!
