First, read this comic:
(From the August 21, 2011 Doonesbury comic strip, click on image to enlarge)
The basic point of the comic is income inequality. Rich people are really rich, the rest of us are poor, right? Except...what does the black-haired man have in his hand?
A tablet computer. Hand-held. Connected to the internet. Able to do amazing things. No wires or cords.
Forgive me if I don't think he's all that poor.

I don't think he is meant to be in the 'poor' class. He would be one of those above the 150 million poor and yet not in one of the 400 'rich' families. The poor is only 50% of the population. With the wireless tablet, I would put him around 79%, not too low that he can't afford a wireless tablet, not too high that the stat still shocks him. Granted, I wouldn't mind a wireless tablet.
ReplyDeleteAh, but he has compassion for those that can't afford a wireless tablet and have to make do with standard cable and a 2 year old desktop computer.
