A Celebration of School

Inspired by Stephanie Nielson of the NieNie Dialogues, tonight we had a "Back to School" feast. (Actually, since Zee is just starting school, it's more like a "Going to School" feast.)

We made a banner, carefully (or not so carefully) colored by Zee and Em. I crafted a crown and a name place for Zee. He helped me make his favorite dinner (penne pasta with "dipping sauce", red lobster rolls, and apple juice), and we set the table with nice dishes.

Although Em and Gee both downed their apple juice in short order, Zee informed us that he was "savoring" his. We talked about the new school year, how Zee is going to make new friends, listen to his teacher, and play outside during recess.

After dinner, Bradley gave all the children father's blessings. I have so many fond memories of my father giving me blessings at the new school year--it is so exciting to see my husband do the same for my son.
