Today while Hebs was visiting Grandmama (my Grandmother Tobler), he played with some toys that she has stashed away in a little metal bucket. Inside were little plastic animals, Fisher-Price people, and alphabet magnets.
After amusing himself by carefully removing every toy from the bucket to the floor, Hebs made an amazing discovery. A few of the alphabet letters stuck to the bucket! This is a whole new way to have fun!
But then the spark of scientific inquiry blazed in his brain. Perhaps the other toys might stick. Here, a toy pig. Does it stick? No. Hmmmm. How about this Fisher-Price girl, what about her? No stickage here, she just slides right to the floor. A letter "M"? It sticks, it sticks! Did you see that, Momma?
He must have spent five minutes, trying to stick various toys to the outside of that little red bucket.
It is so amazing and so humbling to watch his brain work. Hebs doesn't walk, he is barely on the cusp of verbal communication, but he discovered something today. And then experimented to see what else might work. He's becoming a Real Boy, right before my eyes.
Wow. I love being a part of this!

Babies work danged hard.
