Oh, I almost forgot...Happy Third Birthday to Gee's shunt! It was three years ago today that he had major brain surgery. He was three weeks old, and it was my thirtieth birthday.
I was so anxious about the "bump" on his head--mostly because it looked so fragile, but some because it looked so weird. I wanted him to wear hats all the time. Bradley helped me realize that my reaction was more of an overreaction, and eventually we all got used to the knobby bump on his head.
As Gee grew, and got more body fat and hair, his shunt became less and less prominent. Now we barely notice it, even when he gets a buzz haircut.
Happy birthday, shunt. Thanks for three years of perfect function--here's to many, many more.
