Rocket Family

(This is the last of my "freezer meal" posts. "Freezer meal" posts: the posts I wrote before Mimi came so that I would have something to post even if I was too tired/exhausted/pained to actually, you know, write something. Sort of like the meals with which I stocked my freezer.)

Out in the middle of nowhere, near Promontory Summit, is the ATK aerospace and defense complex. ATK makes solid rocket boosters and fuel for satellites, missiles, and the space shuttle. They are out in the middle of nowhere because of this (highly explosively) dangerous work. (You don't, for example, want a marshmallow factory giving tours to school children right next to things that can blow up in a really, really big way.)

In front of their main office building, there is an amazing full-scale display of all the rockets and missiles they manufacture there. If one is already seeing the trains at Promontory Summit, and is "in the neighborhood" (so to speak), it is totally worth it to drive the extra 2 miles to the rocket display. Our kids had a ball playing around and in the various displays.
